Do Now: Today's Constructed Response is based on the Declaration of Independence.
We want you to write your answer in the "blocks" for each part of the constructed response. This will insure that you are answering the question completely!
Back to "Breaking Up":
1. Review the four-part format that Jefferson used in the Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776.
2. Elizabeth Cady Stanton used the same format in “Declaration of Sentiments of the Seneca Falls Woman’s Rights Convention” in 1848. Why would she paraphrase Jefferson's Declaration?
3. Independent Reading: Read the Stanton excerpts and answer the following reading questions:
Paragraph 1.
What type of persuasive appeal does Stanton use in this paragraph?
Paragraph 2.
What type of appeals does she use?
Paragraph 3.
Underline examples of parallelism.
Paragraph 4.
What type of persuasive appeals does Stanton use in this last section? Mark the text and use the margins.
Homework: Continue working on your Declaration of Independence. Make sure you have completed Step 2. Use the graphic organizer to complete Step 3. Use Jefferson and Stanton's format to present your declaration. Due tomorrow. (50 points)
