Do Now: “Pit bulls are the canine equivalent of assault weapons.” This is an example of bad logic. Why? Can you extend the problem beyond “pit bulls”?

Take the $5.00 challenge

1. Skim the passages.

2. Read the questions and underline key terms.

3. Read the passage with the questions in mind.

4. Read the question and make predictions before you analyze the answer choice.

5. Look for similar patterns in the answer choices as well as key words in the passage.

6. Eliminate new information and "always, never" type  of answers.

7. Remember the answer must answer the question. It doesn't matter if it sounds right or you believe it to be a true statement.
