Do Now: (Put your homework on your desk.) Beyond Abigail, who do you think is responsible for the chaos in Salem? Why? (5 lines/ 5 minutes)

Today we will be analyzing the actions, motivations, and objectives of the key characters of The Crucible. 

We'll be taking a closer look at Parris, Hale, Danforth, John, and Elizabeth as the play draws to a close.

The wiki project: Tomorrow you will be beginning an in-depth analysis of one of these characters. Your task is to consider 

1. indirect and direct characterization, 

2. internal/external  conflict, 

3. motivation, 

4. objectives, 

5. and key incidents from the play that explain your character's actions. You will be using direct quotations and evidence from the play to  support your analysis.

Homework: Select your character. Briefly outline the five sections of this essay. Select 3-4 quotations from your handouts that will support your analysis. No outline; no laptop.
