Our focus continues to be characterization.
       1.What motivates each character?
       2.What is the character's objective in each excerpt?
       3. Why does this character behave this way?
       4. How does this character handle conflict or double-binds?
Reverend Hale has a change of heart.
Mary knuckles under to pressure from Abigail and the girls.
John Proctor is accused of being the Devil's man.
Consider the following quote:

"God damns our kind especially, and we will burn, we will burn together!"

Why does Proctor say this? What is the author's purpose in including this all-important line?
