4. Join the thousands of people who support the Clean Air Act." What's the technique?
Writers' Workshop: The five paragraph persuasive essay:
1.What is your topic?
2. Brainstorm at least 5 arguments you can make to support your topic.
3. Narrow it to the three arguments that you feel make the strongest case for supporting what you want someone to do or believe. These are the three paragraphs of your body.
4. Make a list of what you will say under each of the three arguments.
5. What type of persuasive appeals and techniques will you use?
logical, emotional, ethical appeals?
facts, fear appeals, snob appeals, bandwagon, testimonials?
Start writing your body.
Homework: Write a rough draft of the body of your editorial. Tomorrow we will use laptops to gather evidence to include. Be sure to have your rough draft with you.
