Do Now: Who is your favorite character in the play? What interests you the most about him/her? Why?
Today's goals. After this class you will be able to:
1. Brainstorm a list of traits your character possesses.
2. identify direct and indirect characteristics, motivation, and his/her influence on other people in the play.
3. outline the body of your essay.

The Crucible: pages 18-22.

Fill out characterization charts.

Essay : ( 5 paragraphs - including an introduction, body and conclusion )
Topic: Select a character from the play and analyze him/ her in terms of direct and indirect characterization, motivation, and his/her influence on other people in the play.

The body of your essay will have three paragraphs: direct and indirect characterization, motivation, and influence on others.

Homework: Brainstorm information you might use for each section of the body.  Make an outline of each paragraph.
