Do Now: Why does Logan think it "best to put on scorn" when Janie asked hin what he would think if she ran off and left him? Do you agree with this strategy to handle conflict?

Classwork: MR. AND MRS. JOE STARKS

 Joe develops his big voice, but what about Janie?
p.58: "Jody told her to dress up and stand in the store all evening...She must look on herself as the bell-cow, the other women were the gang"
p. 61: "Thank you for your compliments, but my wife don't know nothin' 'bout no speech-makin'. Ah never married her for nothin' lak dat."
p.64: " Ah told you in de very first beginnin' dat Ah wanted tuh be a big voice. You oughta be glad, 'cause dat makes uh big woman oughta you."
p.66: "But any man who walks in the way of power and property is bound to meet hate."
p. 68: Ah often wonder how dat little wife uh his'n makes out wid him, 'cause he's uh man dat changes everything, but nothin' don't change him."
