Do Now: Which is which? Number from 1 to 5. Write the type of figurative language that each sentence contains.

1.The basketball player was as quick as a cat when he had the ball.

2. The girl in my 2nd period class had to be the smartest person in the world, she always got all of the answers right in class.

3. The boy may have been big and tough looking, but he was really a big teddy bear.

4. As a single flake fell on my nose, I noticed the snow was light, fluffy, and perfectly white.

5. The powerful Panthers pounced on the Patriots early in the game.

Today's class is all about vocabulary.

We will focus on literary terms, this week's reading vocabulary, additional roots and affixes, and using context clues to decipher the meaning of unfamiliar words.
