Do Now: Take out your journal and prepare to write 5 lines in 5 minutes as soon as we tell you to begin.

The Power Point you've watched prepares you to read Emerson's Nature.
Use markers to highlight evidence in the text of:
1. Emerson's belief that adult's have lost the ability to see nature.
2. Emerson's belief that children have this ability.
3. the beauty of nature.
4. that nature gives comfort or solace.

Create a new page and title it" first initial last name Nature". Be sure to put it in your folder. 
1. Your task is to interpret Emerson's message, concentrating on the second paragraph of your handout.  Your analysis should include a summary of his philosophy, evidence from the text that supports your interpretation, and whether or not you agree with his philosophy. Be sure to include your reasons.
(Think about it: What does it mean to become a "transparent eyeball"? )
2. Select two quotes from the passage that prove your interpretation.
3. Illustrate them with images from the internet.
