Do Now: Number from 1-5 on your paper. Which is which? Decide if the following excerpts are logical, ethical, emotional appeals, examples of argument by analogy, and/or examples of parallelism. Be sure to include the "trigger" for each answer. Remember there may be more than one thing going on in each excerpt.
1. "The King has invaded our country, The King has denied us the right to trial. The King has usurped our property. The King has endangered our children.
2. " The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States....Let us consider the facts:"
3.  "... A decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."
4.   " Remember all Men would be tyrants if they could. If particular care and attention is not paid to the Ladies we are determined to foment a Rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any Laws in which we have no voice or Representation. "
5. My best friend told me that her daughter's fiance texted her three weeks before their wedding that he couldn't marry her. The poor girl had a nervous breakdown. Texting is no way to break up with someone. He's disgusting.
