Do Now: Decide what type of persuasive appeal is used in the following sentences. Do not write the sentence, just "emotional", "logical", or "ethical". Write the triggers that helped you identify the type of appeal ( loaded words, statistics, facts, anecdote, figurative language).
1.  One out of every five students at Overbrook made honor roll this report period, according to Principal Young. She asked all students to focus on their work so that they could also join this outstanding group of students.
2.  If you are a loyal American, you will volunteer to fight prejudice, poverty, and illiteracy by joining The Job Corp.
3.  My friend broke up with her boyfriend. She had no way to meet new people. She signed up on Match.com and met a guy through this online dating service that she married four months later. I know you might want to try it, too.
Class work:
1. Fallacious use of Persuasive Appeals
2. Vocabulary from this week's literature.
3. Analysis of Thomas Paine"s "The Crisis"
Homework: Review your handout for a quiz tomorrow - Persuasive appeals,  and vocabulary.
