Do Now: Journal entry. Elizabeth can't seem to forgive John for cheating.  Put yourself in her place. What would your reaction be if your husband or wife admitted they were cheating on you? Be prepared to share with your partner.

Compare the movie to the play:

1. Read Mary Warren's dialogue on p. 28 - 30. What information doesn't the movie deal with? Which account do you prefer?
2. Read The scene between Elizabeth and John on p. 30-31.
How does the play differ from the movie? Which account explains Elizabeth's character better?
3. Read the scene detailing Elizabeth's arrest on pages 35-37.
What is the significance of the poppet?
What does John Proctor mean when he says the "little crazy children are jangling the keys of the kingdom and common vengeance writes the law?"

Homework: Prepare your character analysis for your computer project tomorrow. Who is your favorite character? Describe their personality and their influence on other people in the play. Cite evidence from the play that proves your point.
