Do Now:Copy vocabulary words into your notebook:
conflict - the struggle between opposing forces or characters in a story
 
internal conflict - opposing forces in a character's mind.

external conflict- struggles that exist between two people or a person and society.

protagonist - the main character in a story , may be the hero.

antagonist - the character in a story who struggles with the hero or protagonist

Write a situational context clue for 2 of the words.  What's that?  Be prepared to share with the class on the white board.

The Crucible: 
1. Finish Act 1.
2. The dinner table scene pages 26-28
John and Elizabeth - finally a look at their marriage!
Reading guide... Take notes as we read:
a.  Look for signs of conflict and motivation. Make a list
b.  Look for clues about their relationship.  Write a few down.

Homework: Analyze the relationship between Elizabeth and Proctor. What's your opinion? Use evidence from the play to prove your point. ( 50 points )
