Essay work session. Your five paragraph essay is due Friday.
You will need three paragraphs ( the body of the essay) that present information from the video and your handout that support your thesis.
Your introduction must have a strong opening sentence, some background information, and a thesis that incorporates the three main ideas of the body.
Your conclusion must have a summary of the body as well as a strong closing sentence.
Steps:
1. Brainstorm key points from the video and the writing of Cullen and Hughes.
2. Outline the three main points of the body based on your brainstorming homework.
3. Use evidence from the video and literature to support your main ideas.
4. Create your thesis.
5. Outline the introduction
6. Outline the conclusion.
7. Write a rough draft: Have you fully answered the prompt?
8. Write the final draft being sure to proofread!
Homework: Your essay is due on Friday along with the rest of the Harlem Renaissance handout.
