Do Now: Take out your notebooks/aphorism chart and the novel. Choose an aphorism or your favorite quotation from the novel that illustrates Joe's character in this marriage.
Classwork: Movie and Aphorisms:
We will be watching the scenes dealing with the head rag and moving through the deterioration  of their marriage.
How does the movie differ from the book? What's left out? What's changed to accommodate the plot and time?
Back to the novel:
Oprah Winfrey selects scenes that show the change in characters as Joe becomes a big voice.
