Review reading questions from Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass.
Review Literary devices including:
1. Irony: the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning. "Beautiful day! when it's pouring rain.
Situational Irony: a contrast between what an audience is led to expect during a particular situation within the unfolding of a story's plot and a situation that ends up actually resulting later on.
Constructed Response: Does Douglass use indirect characterization effectively? Use two examples from the Narrative that prove your point.
Homework: Reread the Narrative and mark the text for an example of irony. Hint: Remember the Douglass is a gifted writer.
